Following the advent of the specialist register, practitioners who were already registered and subsequently acquired specialist certificates from other jurisdictions wondered whether they were required to sit Council’s registration examinations per the existing examination standards and whether the new OSCE format of examinations also applied to them.

The notice of 17^th August, 2023 was intended to confirm that:

1. The statutory requirements that all foreign graduates are to sit Council’s registration examinations applied to all irrespective whether the practitioner was already registered.
2. The format of the specialist examinations had not changed and still remained a viva voce Please refer to policy on examinations: https://www.mdcghana.org/exam-registration/
3. For the avoidance of doubt this notice is not a new policy
4. The lack of clarity in the previous notice is regretted.
